13 days until deployment

Here we are: January 1st, 2010. I am exactly 13 days away from deploying on the adventure of a lifetime. I am scheduled to leave on January 13th for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to work for the Saudi Red Crescent as a flight paramedic on their new helicopter emergency medical service.

I am very excited about this opportunity and look forward to all the experiences I will have and people I will meet.

Things I will miss:

- Beer

- Women (at least women who I can legally talk to and who are not wearing abayas and burkas)

- My friends

- My family

- My co workers (most of whom are friends)

Things I look forward to:

- Making new friends

- Saving lives

- Traveling through Saudi, the Middle East, and Europe

The above two lists are not comprehensive and certainly in no particular order.
